mythtv and cccam/gbox? - 22-June-2008, 21:18

I am trying to get a mythtv setup working at the moment and would like to get it working with gbox or cccam with my 2 hauppauge nova-hd-s2 cards.

Can anyone point me to a guide for mythtv? I have read that it is possible but cant find any info about how!

thanks

There was a howto on here if I remember correctly?

Try following this and let us know how you get on:

DVBN :: Log in

Gentoo Linux - Nexus-s, Linux VDR - 2 x ATSC HD cards, Hauppauge PVR 500 for analog US Cable, 3 x Hauppauge MVP's running Vomp on VDR, UK TV on IPTV.

Not a single sat dish at the moment. :-(

If you want to watch DVB-S2 channels, you need to patch MythTV for use with multiproto. For usage of Gbox, you need to use sasc-ng as this works as a buffer for making server connections to CCcam (after patch), Gbox, newcamd, etc by creating new virtual dvb devices.

Thanks Shalafi - is there a guide anywhere that shows what to do once sasc-ng has been compiled and installed?

Would this run better than the mdapi & gbox plugin on mediaportal... I would prefer to use mediaportal for ease, but when I have tried to set it up I get constant glitching and short freezing... this is not a problem when I use my dreambox to connect to the same remote share (both pc and dreambox on share level 1 from the remote share)... If it would be the same then I need help getting my gbox running smoother on the pc with mediaportal

cheers

1)before compiling sasc-ng you must patch it with the cccam client patch
2a)After that if you just want gbox add your server to cardclient.conf
2b)If you want cccam you must follow the instructions written in the cccam client patch zip mentioned before
3)After that if you want dvb-s2 (hd) patch mythtv with #5403 (Patch for support DVB API 3.3 and DVB-S2) ? MythTV ? Trac and compile mythtv
4) of course you will need to have the correct multiproto drivers. You can find instructions in linuxtv site->dvb wiki

I'm curious about this, too.

I'm currently trying an easier approach: I'm using a smartcardreader+ with newcs and sasc-ng

I can not find the patch for sasc-ng to work with cccam. Is there something available for open-sasc too?

I have just managed to get it to work by patching the latest open-sasc with the patch found here:- Index of /ftp/freevo/sasc-ng
However the patch does not apply completely cleanly and I found that I had to manually patch the files in the open-sasc-ng/sc/PLUGINS/src/sc-src/po directory.
apart from that it appears to be working fine.
The patched open-sasc-ng can be found here:- open-sasc-ng-CCcam-patched
