I dont remember what kernel 11.10 had :p

I only used the LTS version because I just happened to have it already to go on a separate partition.

I also used an older revision of sasc-ng ( hg clone -r 570 http://85.17.209.13:6100/sc ) as the latest revision wouldnt work either for me :p

if you can build the 570 revision on 3.x that may work, there is a thread over on happysat with a load of patches and stuff for that purpose if you fancy a read - http://www.dvbn.happysat****/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=53766

Mutex patch - http://dolot.kipdola.com/wiki/Compil...tch_the_source

Can't get this to work, I get to this part:
patch -p1 linux-source-3.0.0/drivers/media/dvb/dvb-core/dvbdev.c linux-2.6.38-dvb-mutex.patch

and it just tells me hunk 1 of 1 failed. Can anyone give me any tips as what i have to do here?

Thanks.

cd /usr/src/linux-3.0
wget http://kipdola.be/subdomain/linux-2....vb-mutex.patch
patch -p1 < linux-2.6.38-dvb-mutex.patch

(see the missing < )

Should work fine, try using 3.0.4 if it fails, but I built it on 3.0 (If memory serves)

It tells me "patching files" and I can follow the instructions all the way until its time to test
"modprobe dvbloopback" at this point it just tells me that its an "invalid argument" any ideas as to why?

I really dont want to drop back to previous ubuntu versions as i have some settings and program info saved on there that i dont want to go through again.

Is sasc-ng the only softcam for ubuntu then? I always though there would be more options for this in linux..

Any suggestions? Do i have to patch the actual tuner driver (using tbs 6981) or just linux source?

this error is normally there when the dvbloopback driver is not in line with the kernel version.
- Either you compiled the dvbloopback driver against the wrong kernel version (I guess not?)
- somewhere you didn't copy the newly compiled dvbloopback driver correctly and Linux is still trying to loop the old version.

Check the timestamp of the file
/lib/modules/`uname -r`/misc/dvbloopback.ko
(uname -r gives your booted linux kernel version). Is this the timestamp it could have after you compiled the driver?

Note about patching the kernel for sasc-ng: this is not needed to load any of the sasng related drivers. These will all load fine without patching the kernel. You only need to patch because if you start to use the drivers if will not work (for example mythbackend will hang).
This is just to say that you can do the sascng compilation and installation without the patch. You can then check if the drivers load, if sascn-ng will start. If this is working you can patch the kernel.

Note: I can confirm that it all works fine on last ubuntu kernel version.

Let me know if you need extra input.
