Ubuntu 8.04, HVR400, VDR, vdr-sc, xine, cccam? - 27-August-2008, 22:48

Hey guys, this is my first post :)

I have an HTPC which I want to turn into a satellite receiver which connects to a cccam server. This is what I know:

I have a Hauppauge HVR4000 card, Ubuntu 8.04, nvidia card.

What I have done:

Successfully installed the HVR4000 driver (thanks to shalafi!)
Downloaded vdr 1.7.0 and compiled in vdr-sc (whatever this means) by following Multiproto_plus Part 2: VDR 1.7.0+Xine (TechnoTrend S2-3200) mostly.
I have installed vdr (I think) with Premiere EPG plugin, TVonscreen plugin, Remote plugin and lcdproc plugin.

I have also gotten xine-ui from apt-get (I couldn't compile xine lib because ubuntu 8.04 doesn't have a newer avutil:

"Requested 'libavutil >= 49.6.0' but version of libavutil is 49.3.0".

I have no idea what works now and what doesn't. I don't know how this is supposed to work together either. I need some pointers or something :)

What's about that ca.c file that I have to compile? Where's the right one?

What I basically want is to be able to flip channels on linux :) Therefore I need working lirc support too.

I have no idea where to even test this or troubleshoot. I have just followed said tutorial, and I end up with a messed distro :)

Any form of response is appreciated!

Thanks in advance!
