you need a null modem cable to use dreamup

i connected the box with the router and then to the pc via ethernet.

Which Dreambox do you have.
With a DM 500 you will need a serial cable.
With the DM 600 and DM 702x you can flash without dreamup. Just unplug the power, hold down the power button on the dreambox plug the power cable back, while still holding down the power button for about 15seconds.

Then you can access the flash menu from an internet browser by typing

[Only Registered Users Can See LinksClick Here To Register] of the dreambox

and then click flash. This will then ask you to browse to the flash file. Once the progress bar has reached 100% you can unplug the power and plug it back in.

I flashed my first dm500 via the lan too
so EVEN with dm500 you can do it via network without a cable using same method as you described
