simple steps for beginners - 12-June-2008, 20:17

Hi,

I'm a newbie and like many other am overwhelmed by the whole thing.
It's great that there's loads of tutorials but it doesn't help if you don't know where to start.

Can someone far more knowledgeable than me break it down in steps. I'm not asking for the full info as I'm sure it's all here already just the do this first then that and I'll look for the tutorials on those.

Example:

Get dreambox out of box, and connect TV with sat cable plugged in.

Flash Firmware

Then boquets

then that

I don't know but just the steps so we can search on them

Once the dreambox is at it's basic level (before connected to internet or whatever else is needed to share then move on to the next steps including choosing what programs (I don't know the names yet!) you'll need to share.

And then the next step and then the next.

I think this one page step by step guide will help people search smarter instead of asking the same question over and over.

Then obviously make it a sticky and bung it right at the top screaming out to be read.

hopefuly this will be read by the right people and someone cando this

Thanks,

Brivaldo9

Ok, unpack and connect your box to:
1. Sattelite
2. TV
3. Internet

Turn the power on! Then decide:
1. which image you'll like to use
2. which EMU you'll like to use

Search this site for the following programs:
1. DCC or other FTP programm
2. openDBedit or LLamaedit

With DCC you can upload an image to your box thru your LAN.

In the tutorial section you can find exactly how!

If this is the agreed route to take I'd have to say, that's exactly what I meant. I take my hat off to you and hopefully someone can make that a sticky!

I'm actually looking forward to using the searches now I have a route to follow!

The choice of image and EMU depends on the card you want to use.. In general I recommend CCcam and a PLI image.

A great idea for a sticky

This is where I need the info

Buy Dreambox Take out of box
Choose emu for your card

See I have a Bulsat card and I have no idea what image to put on it or how to config the box to watch bulsat.

Im fine after that I can plod around and play but is it not wise to first get your own card working on the box
I also have searched for hours or days for this info and am still just banging my head of the monitor

Thanks to any king soul willing to assist

You can use CCcam and Gbox as EMU.
