Exclamation TELNET COMMANDS>>>>For NEWBS LIKE ME - 10-August-2007, 21:51

When asked to give tenet commands by somebody to describe your problem...please follow these instructions as supplied "by BACTERIA"

've written down some usefull telnet commands i use a lot when i'm not near my dreambox

to start telnet
click start, run
type telnet [dreambox ip] "dont put the brackets just put the number"
enter user/pass in the telnet box
standard is root/dreambox

change dir to /var/tmp by typing
cd /var/tmp

to see number of cards online
grep Card | wc -l

to see number of cards from a peer
grep [peer name] | wc -l

you can put whatever behind grep like prov id's distance, share level
grep dist:1 | wc -l
grep Lev:1 | wc -l
output example:
[email protected]:/var/tmp# grep dist:1 | wc -l

do mind the capitals !!

the wc -l commands counts the number of lines in
if you remove it you wil see all the lines containing the text entered behind grep

grep Lev:0
CardID 1 at Card 01000002 Sl:3 Lev:0 dist:3 id:7898
CardID 11 at Card 0100002F Sl:1 Lev:0 dist:2 id:A508
CardID 26 at Card 01000030 Sl:2 Lev:0 dist:3 id:8069
CardID 27 at Card 01000035 Sl:1 Lev:0 dist:2 id:A508

in is the online status of the peers
you can see it by typing
peers with 1 are online, 0 means offline

to kill gbox:
touch /tmp/gbox.kill
to start gbox
/var/bin/gbox &
don't forget the & behind it or gbox will be closed when you exit the telnet session

to reboot your dreambox type
to change dreambox password type

if ppl are interested i can also tell you how to edit files in telnet like cwshare.cfg

i found this very usefull, by opening telnet port i can control all settings for gbox from everywhere i am.

hope i make some people happy with this explanation

Took some time to find this post but definetely you made people happy!!!!
