For your information, I've the same problem of not working port on a DM800HD clone and I use a Wlan usb dongle bought on dealextreme.

It uses a wide-spread RT3070L chipset without problem with a OpenPli 2.1 image.

Try to find what is the chipset used in your USB ?

i have now not access to the dream7025+ but the menu to find the list of kernel modules i think find you over the bluepanel / system or something else
