boxkey placement query - 15-February-2010, 00:14

Have converted my sly card number into a 8 letter/number box key. I have a 500s running gemini 4.7 and CCcam 2.13. When I put the boxkey into my CCcam config file is there any where in particular I need to put it. Also should it be like this

BOXKEY: /dev/sci0 (real box key here)

Thanks

BOXKEY: /dev/sci0 11 22 33 AA
Note the lack of a # in front of the line and the spaces in the boxkey.

Cheers for that Dotseh, worked a treat. The other question I have if you dont mind is the mate has his new white sly card in a white sly box(not a sly+) which he had to ring sly to pair the card to the box as his original box died. I have looked at the underside of his and there does not seem to be a 17 digit serial number like mine. I noticed on the boxkey coverter from here you have the option to enter an 11 digit serial but cannot see one.
On my box I have a 12 and 17 digit serial on the unerside. When I go into system settings in the sly menu there is a 10 digit serial and my 9 digit card number.
When I was looking for my boxkey I used my sly card number first both on its own and with 00 in front but neither worked but when I entered the 17 digit serial from the underside of the sly box it gave me a different 8 digit boxkey which did work.

Thanks

I believe the serial number in the sky menu is the boxkey in decimal. Convert it to hexadecimal and if its short of the 8 hex digits necessary (4 pairs of 2) add zeros to the front. Cant remember where in sky menu.

Cheers for that Dotseh, must check that out for future reference. This time there was actually a 17 digit serial on the underside of the box. And even though it is not the original box when they paired up the box & card they must have used the 17 digit from the box. Anyways sorted on this front so thanks again. Off now to portforwarding to try and run the two boxes in different locations
