Erm, not sure I understand 100% his objections, but some of the basics with cs2gbox.

A cs2gbox card will appear one hop further away. Thus my BSkyB freesat card comes to me as a hop 1, whereas my sky Italia (read natively) doesn't come as a hop, it is native. To my peers I have Sky Italia as hop 1, and a BSkyB Freesat as hop 2.

If they request my hop 2 cards then they will find the BSkyB card, and their gbox will send a request off for it. That will in turn get passed to newcs and the result posted back, normally slightly slower than my native card.. So I send the result off in about 220ms which will arrive in about 360ms, whereas most hop 2 will take about 600ms to get to two hops.

If I don't want it shared, then sticking in 0 will mean that it will only share it to my gbox server, and it won't even appear on other peoples lists.

If however, it is on a peers list, and that peer has access to all out 2 or 3 hop peer cards then their gbox server will send off a request to "X" boxids for a given channel. In that request it could well go to 4 of your peers and your newcs card. All of those peers should respond and your gbox server will use the first answer. That's one of the strengths of gbox of cccam. CCcam only uses one peer at a time. If that peer dies or disconnects, it takes a few seconds for CCcam to realise and find another peer.

Gentoo Linux - Nexus-s, Linux VDR - 2 x ATSC HD cards, Hauppauge PVR 500 for analog US Cable, 3 x Hauppauge MVP's running Vomp on VDR, UK TV on IPTV.

Not a single sat dish at the moment. :-(
