DM7000 & Smargo ??? - 23-November-2008, 15:36

Hi,

As my Debian server has died, I decided to move my cardserver to my DM7000. This works fine, but now I only have the 2 interncal cardslots available.
I would like to add my other cards as well. Can I use my 2 Smargo readers with my DM7000?
If I stick them in my DM7000 (with Nabilo) it doesn't seem to find the readers. Anyone any idea?

Thanks,

TFH

If it has usb i would say yes. use the 7020 drivers. I am trying the DM600 and smargo working but have run out of ideas. It won't install the .ipk driver?

Hi,

I have the same issue with Nabilo, it does not seem to have usbserial.ko built into the kernel. You can of course loader the other drivers available from various sources, however these will not work without the usbserial.ko.

I posted similar issues also with the dm800 - nabilo image.

ipkg install kernel-module-ftdi-sio_2.6.9-r9_dm7020
ipkg kernel-module-usbserial_2.6.9-r9_dm7020

Will work fine, however these won't work without usbserial in the kernel.

If you could get usbserial.ko built for the nabilo kernel from some sources?

Any linux guru's care to step forward on this one?

back to this topic...
I am planning to setup Phoenix cardreader with USB interface to my DM7000 to read my conax card by CCcam.
It has the same ftdi chip as smargo, that's why I am writing in this topic.
I use Gemini 4.4 with my DM7000.
Do I have to get drivers or does gemini 4.4 include it?
What setup is needed in CCcam.cfg?
Is anybody here who can confirm if smargo/usb phoenix working with DM7000?

Thanks,
FGD

Create a file named init under /var/etc/ with persmission 755 and add the following lines :
Code:
insmod /lib/modules/2.6.9/kernel/drivers/usb/serial/usbserial.ko &&
insmod /lib/modules/2.6.9/kernel/drivers/usb/serial/ftdi_sio.ko
Reboot and you should now have a new device /dev/usb/tts/0

Enjoy !

yeah its right but i got it already. with a init file like this you can running smargo at every image for dm7000 ;)
