Exclamation DM800 and cooling via usb powered fan - 28-December-2008, 03:52

Since DM800 gets hot a lot, i tried making usb powered fan, which basically is usb connector from a broken usb mouse connected to a 12V 8cm fan for pc. I've set up fan on top of dm800 and it cooled it fine, so far so good, but .. check which fan you have, most use around 1W at 12V, even though you lower voltage to 5V, they will still use more juice than usb port can supply (500mW).

That manifested on my configuration in a way that dm couldn't control rotor anymore, it just wouldn't move .. removed usb fan .. all works ok.

I guess better solution is in order.
