dm800 tuner-socket resolder - 21-July-2010, 10:30

Hello, i bought a secondhand dm800 .. to play with.. the only problem is that the tunersocket is fecked on mine .. tryed alot of tuners but no go.. compared the tunersocket with another dm800 perfect... the secondhanded has black and broken pins..(problem) the project now is to desolder and resolder a new one in

72 way 2x36 PCI express card-edge RS stocknummer 615-9524
avaible at rs components

any tips or experience about this are welcome ..

I got many experience with soldering so stuff, you must have a good solderstation, like Aoyue or somthing else. You have to watch that you dont kill the PCB when you desolder the old one... Normaly you have to preheat the pcb for desoldering to prevent cracking the pcb.

Thxs .. i have some experience with resolder & desolder asus notebook powerjack's .. never used a fiberglass pen before .. had done wiikeys, lt-switch (xbox 360) simple usb/fan wires kinda basic all done with a 15€ solder-iron .. i have alot of old 478 motherboards laying around for some practics shots .. the thing i want to try is to heat it up a little bit with a heatgun and simple try to bend it out or slowly with a soldersucker

and some solder-wick wire
