Post DM800HD Pvr - heat problems solving. - 13-August-2008, 00:27

All problems with my DM800 are in the past !!! Ofcourse after that i mount a cooler.

I have internal 250GB hdd, so i mount ultra quiet "ZALMAN" (low profil) cooler on top of chassis (anyway, i can not place nothing on top).
Cooler is screwed, have nice looking grille in grey color with ZALMAN logo. Powered via USB (5V) from back panel. Wire is under lid, go trough hole. I got hole, remouving expernal SATA conector (conector is unuseble anyway, when internal hdd is attached).
So, NOW my DM800 work great and look like expansive Hi-End "valve-amplifier"

Ofcourse have many ways to cool your dream, but small coolers usually is a most noisy.

Cool Your Dream.
Good luck!

PS:
USB cable have 4 wires. You must use only this with power and ground (usualy red and black). If your cooler have 3 wires, one of them is for control a motor with (usualy white). You must use other two wires (usualy black and red).

It could also be a hardware problem. There are a lot more problems with this model. Tuner and or Motherboard

is that so ? what issues and where did you hear this ? Anyone that's added cooling to their systems seem to have solved their problems, I hope that's all that's wrong in my instance, WIll Dreambox replace any faulty receivers ?

It is posted at severall forums.I read about it on a dutch forum. Freezing at HD channels after 30-60 minutes. No matter what image. It seems related to 85xxxxx and 86xxxxxx serial numbers. Dreammultimedia doesn't know what the problem is. Some have sent their dm800 back to the factory. They are returned with new tuners and or new motherboards after quite some time. Some even talk of a recall on this model. Mine has the same problem.... I wil wait until they find out exactly what is wrong with it, before I return it.

My DM800 is s/n 86181xxxxxxxxxxxxxx. After i add my cooler, he freez only once on FilmPlus HD (39E). I watch olimpic games on ESP HD 13E many hours w/o problems from my local card. Also no problems on other HD chennals that i watch from peers. But i will test again. NEXT several days i will staing my Dream for night on diferent HD programs to see will he freez or not.

About pics, i will post, but i need time to do them (be offline).

Cheers

The problems seem to occur only on 85xxxxxx and 86xxxxxx serial numbers, but not on ALL these numbers. That's why they don't know exactly what is wrong. Some have tested problem models with fans. It took these receivers just a little longer to freeze...
