Dream800 as CS Server - Having Lags - 13-August-2009, 18:50

Hi all,

first of all here what i use:

Server:
Dreambox 800 with latest Gemini image and CCcam 2.0.11

Clients:
Some dreamboxes, some dbox2 some with CCcam 2.0.11 some with 2.1.1

My problem is that my clients are reporting lags all 10-20 seconds.
It was okay for 1 day then it suddenly started, also a reboot of my router and the dreambox itself didn't help us out.

Before that i used the latest CCCcam but there we had the same issue.

Any idea how i can check WHY we have those lags?
If you need any information to check on this please let me know and i will provide you with it.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Cheers

Stefan

It could be many things, we need more info, like number of peers, hops, internet speed/load, e.c.t

1 - router issues at server and client

2 - ISP issues

3 - encyrption type

When not using your Satellite receiver, always select a FTA channel. This will save bandwidth :)

Hi,

thanks for your reply.
Ok so i have a maximum of 10 friends connecting but it doesnt matter if there are 10 or only 2 connected -> its lagging.
I dont have any hops they are directly connected to my dreambox and i share my card for them.
Internet Speed is Cable 20 MBIT with 2 MBit Upload so it should be enough i think?

At the ECM Time it shows me clients between 0.300-0.600 seconds
Is this okay?

Thanks again for any reply.

Cheers

Does your box connect directly to the router? or do you use homeplugs/powerlines?
Also are you d/l other content like from newsgroups or torrent?

Hi dabs,

i'm directly connected to the router with cable (no wlan or powerline).
No i'm not downloading anything else.
The strange thing is that it did work at the beginning for 1-2 days with CCcam 2.1.1 then it started lagging, then i changed to version 2.0.11 and it was working fine for again 1 day. after this it changed and started lagging.

Is it possible that one of the clients maybe "slows" down my box (because of wrong settings etc? ) ?

thanks

cheers

Stefan

When the server is lagging, if you restart the router, either by unplugging or using the reset button, does the server then run ok for a while?

Ok, then you must remove 1 peer at a time, until a culprit is found. A peer could be trying to log on from 2 different places.
