Im just glad we got HDMI! No more secondary cables to get audio to the AV!

There is something about cables that makes my face twitch...less is better!

**EDIT**

Whats in the top-right corner anyway? Is that just the IR-sensor? Looks a bit big but overall it looks sweet!

Is that an 80x80 fan on top? Casemodding a dreambox! Lets get watercooling, neon-lights and fancontrollers! Add a floppy-drive and go oldskool lol!

Any news if it is really based on the Broadcom 7405 CPU? If that mini-USB is not connected to the USB controller then I'm staying with my dm800hd clone.

New HDTV receiver DM500 HD

19.02.2010

DM500 HD in the trade as of next week

Lnen, 19. February 2010
Dream Multimedia, the leading supplier of Linux-based set-top boxes, is expanding its range of HDTV products. As of next week, the new DM500 HD will be rolled out to the trade. The recommended retail price for the HDTV-ready satellite receiver is 339 Euros.
The key features of the DM500 HD include the powerful 400 MHz processor as well as the Linux operating system. The 10/100 Mbit compatible Ethernet connection allows you to integrate the receiver in your home network, or to enjoy Internet connectivity.
The back panel provides the DVB-S2 tuner as well as a Mini-USB interface for software updates as well as an eSata connection, allowing you to expand the capabilities of the DM500 HD to that of a PVR by connecting to an external hard drive. In addition, the Dreambox comes equipped with an HDMI as well as with an optical digital sound output. The front panel provides a smartcard reader.
The compact size of the DM500 HD deserves special mention. Its dimensions of only 195 x 130 x 40 mm (WxDxH) make it particularly suitable for discreet installation in the living room. Its power consumption, too, is minimal, with a consumption of only twelve Watts during operation, and less than one Watt in standby mode.
Additional technical details can be found on the Dream Multimedia website,
Dream spokesperson Alpaslan Karasu: „Compact and powerful – those are the features of the DM500 HD. The new Dreambox provides HDTV with razor-sharp images and brilliant colours. The option of an external hard drive makes it child’s play to record television programmes.“

They also thought about increasing the price by 40 euros and not providing USB ports, which makes this box useless to me. Anyway could somone make a photo of the motherboard once anybody receives it? I want to have a look if USB pins are out from the CPU to some connector on the board.
