Dreambox 500S - 08-May-2007, 13:54

I have a friend of mines who has the following configuration.

Dreambox 500 S hooked up to a router and obviously internet.

He sometimes has problems with freezing of channels. I have already told him that his main problem probably is memory, but can he increase his memory (or create some memory) without resorting to a server?

Any comments are welcomed.

Thanks and Regards

Does he use gbox or CCcam or another emu? I use CCcam and set for all servers the max hops at 2 so the number of cards was greatly reduced (from 5000 to approx 500). This reduced the freezing i had. Librarian suggested to put the firewall on the dreambox on and add all servers (and local computers) to it.

Hope this will help.

Fedora 14 server, CCcam 2.1.4
Dreambox 800, PLi, CCcam 2.1.4

He uses gbox. He had the 3.2 version but now is using the 2.1 version because he found it more stable.

If you think that he can do something to reduce the freezing kindly explain in simple terms as he is rather green in this matter.

Thanks and Regards

Does he use an attack log and is it full?
If so, resolve who is attacking his box (usualy old unwanted peers).
The attack log will eventually fill up a lot of space if not emptied out/resolved) Too many attcks will also use up a lot of the boxs resources.

The attacks, if the old peers cannot be contacted, can be solved by putting in a dline with A0 A0 for that bad peer or you can use a firewall (standard in PLi Garnet) to block those users.

A bad peer is someone who tries to share with you but isn't in youre cwshare :). The ip address you can see in the attack log. If you know who they are contact them, otherwise turn the firewall on (standard in PLi images) and put all known peers in it.
