don't know the 600, m8.. But using the webinterface, at least with the 7000 and 7020, you can mount an external HDD..

yes indeed im sure that would be ok ivan but problem is there is no Usb slot on a dm600s so i was wondering if it would be at all possible to create some kinda a link from my pc and my external or internal hard drive to my dm600s to record something through using Vlc player ?

If your HDD of your PC is big enough, use that or add an external HDD to your PC. The only difference will be the drive letter. But this is only possible if you have a mount option...

ok just an update :

ive scrapped the idea of tryin to make dm600s record i may try buy a hard drive for it at some stage to make life easier .

But since last nite i connected up my external 1TB hard drive to my Dm800HD Usb slot and amazingly after playing about with VLC plugin and webinterface i actually got some movies etc.. to play and have now also got dm800HD recording onto my external hard drive

i just hope it dont stop recording all a sudden ? its been recording for past Hour now and red Led light still flashing in dm800HD front display .

ive checked some recordings this morning and it records fine i didnt chance yet recording a HD channl im just experimenting at the min but at least this saves me havin to buy a dvd recorder and blank dvd discs aswell

many thnxs for your advice ivanovh i guess patience & presistance pays off in the end
cheers,
