Dreambox functioning very slow....(like syrup) - 12-June-2008, 19:31

I have a DM7000 with Pli Iolite image and I use CCcam 2.0.9.
My dreambox is very slow on certain packages, for example Canal Satellite.
Not only the time to receive the channel is slow, but the entire functioning of the dreambox. For example scrolling through the channels or menu's (this is more like syrup...or how should I explain it), or when I push for example the blue button it takes multiple seconds before somethign happens.

The problem only seems to occur with certain packages or encryptions, and is not related to my peers (all on hop1 and fast ping's, it is even slow when I remove them all).

I currently have 16 mb swap file and already tried to change to larger size, no result

That happens now and then with a 7000. Have you tried a reboot? Do you have a lot of traffic on that card and thus server? How much of the memory of the box is used?

Yes I tried a reboot. I actually even re-installed the whole image with flash erase etc. Doesn't help.

I run my backup DM7000 on pli with no swap file, its not as quick as my DM7020 but is not sluggish. Have you tried a different sized swap file ?

Doesn't really help, it is still sluggish, but only on certain packages. On Canal Satellite it is very bad, but on many other packages very fast.

you could try any of the following ( not saying there gonna work but worth a shot ).

flash the box again, it could have been a dodgy flash to begin with.

try a new image.

try and find a decent prio file.

if none of the above work then email the company you purchased it from and explain the situation and that you think the box maybe faulty or is a clone.

other than that i couldnt tell ya but personally i think that it might be the image.

hope this helps ya

I edited the software to allow a 512MB swap file. Also, with a lot of peers on the dreambox this can happen. In the end I moved the server to a linux box and used a client on the DM.

Gentoo Linux - Nexus-s, Linux VDR - 2 x ATSC HD cards, Hauppauge PVR 500 for analog US Cable, 3 x Hauppauge MVP's running Vomp on VDR, UK TV on IPTV.

Not a single sat dish at the moment. :-(
