Dreambox Transfer setting No password - 05-June-2008, 13:27

Hi guys
I have a dream box 500-s which is sadly on the way out after 2 good years of faithful service. It refuses to turn on when it feels like it and i have checked silly thing like cables and fuses.

I went onto eBay and brought a new dream box hoping to transfer my settings across to the new box - Now here my dilemma - This box was setup for me by brother who sadly passed away over a year ago.

The default password does not allow me to ftp into the box to access my files. If i install a new image via dreamup & Null modem cable will this delete all my config files?

Is there anyway I can remove password from my dream box?
Any suggestions really would be appreciated.

Many thanks

You can back up the image on the box to your PC and then use it to flash your new DB you will still have the lock code on it but all you stuff will be preserved!

hi m8 just use dreamup with a rs232 cable do a full back up of your old box image,
then just flash your new box with the image When prompted flash erase click NEIN,
the password should be the same now
