Question Going to buy 2x Dreambox for cardsharing - which should I go for? - 07-July-2008, 05:20

Greetings!

I am going to buy 2x Dreamboxes (1 in my room, 1 in the living room), both will be using cardsharing. Now, I've got a couple of questions related to this:

Which Dreamboxes should I go for? I want a DBox that fills these requirements:
* Support for digital audio (SPDIF, coax/optical)
* Support for S-Video
* Support for hdd (will add it later on), but not required!
* Some that aren't too expensive (150-250?)

I understand that Dreambox with support for HD are a bit too expensive, so I don't want HD-ready tuner for now...

I've looked through these alternatives:
- DM7020Si
- DM7000S
- DM600 PVR

What's the difference between those 3 tuners, really..? I am of course going to use these for cardsharing... And I assume that S and Si = Satelite, yeah? Because I've got a satelite dish...

Also, it is correct that if my internet connection "falls down", the tv-signal will be gone too, yes?

So, anyone who got some suggestions to me, eh?

Go for the DM600 PVR, it has what you need, newer and it also has more RAM than the older models as 7000 and as much as 7020...more information HERE

Ah. Alrighty then... DM600 PVR it is! Thankies for the tip! :)

However, which of the tuners would you recommend if I want something cheaper than then DM600 PVR? Because the one I will be using in my room, does not need to be advanced at all; No double slots, no HDD-options and no digital sound... Only so it suits cardsharing. Do you suggest that I should go for a DM500 as the second tuner then..? It should work nicely, yes?

the 600 is the small 7020, the 7020 is the renewed 7000..

makes no difference, the all work the same, but the 7000(7020) has nice display..

+ 5000 channels to watch, and still nothin' on TV...

So as a cheaper alternative for DM600 PVR-S, I should go for DM7020-S, yes? The cheaper one will be placed in my room and it does not need to have any fancy/advanced extras, tbh. Just the cardsharing option would do perfectly.

Forgot to mention that I've got a Force 5-series tuner... A bit old that, right?

Sweet. Then that's solved, I guess. 1x DM500+ for the bedroom and 1x DM600 PVR for the living room. Nice, nice!

Hmm... now I suddenly got unsure... should I go for DM7000/7020 or DM500... 7000/7020 cost only 75$ more than DM500...

Beware of fake Dreamoboxes, the original DM500+ costs 199,00 €, the DM600 249,00 € and the 7020 costs 349,00 €...I don't know the price of the DM7000

If you live in EU, then buy them from Germany...there are some trusted e-tailers that I know does sell genuine Dreambox...you can search for them HERE, when you buy from a trusted e-tailer then remember to fill the form for the trusted shops, they are your guarantee that you will get your money back if the e-tailer does not send your goods.
