How safe is sharing? - 20-June-2008, 16:47

Before I take the leap I have a few burning questions:

How safe is sharing? Can it be detected? How?
If I have a sly sub should I make sure I don't have the phone cable plugged in.

Anyone that can bring me up to speed on these issues I'd be much appreciated!

Yes, there is no other way to find you. Otherwise someone in your network will tell to the authorities. No otherway to find. One more chance. Dyndns or No-ip will tell to authorities that these address are using CS. But it also not an easy task. Easy way to find you are using CS is you. Even if some one in your network tell, then you can escape from traceup by changing dyndns id or sutting down CS.

Avoid all payservers if you have a payserver connected to you than authorities will do an investigation for sure.
Payservers are MOST WANTED by legal authorities (and most wanted by ECS so we can ban them and make them public)

true, and the linux os on the dreambox is quite secure by itself.
About the GBOX, just avoid paid servers

With all ypur respect guys this question should get an answer from a solicitor. The rest are just personal opinions....In any case i started a thread questioning privacy and anonyminity.if someone connects to a network knowing the dns and this someone is up to make trouble then everything will be exposed.I am troubled with this question myself as i can not find an answer

Is there a way to protect yourself from hackers? What do most people do as a way of protectin themselves and their boxes?

To brivaldo9
If you set to your server strong passwords and do not let open unused ports then it is pretty secure. One tip do not use standart ports.

what do you expect we r all part of the system hackers ourselfs on the lower level of the pyramid. All Software from images to emulators are being implemented by people on the upper level of this pyramid you can judge for youreslf that we cant do much. That is why it is difficult to get answers for questions related to the anonyminity or privacy.I ve started a thread on this section as well as 4 other forums without any reply. In all forums the thread had more than 100 visitors still noone ever answered how to disable functions that shout out our identy

Kapzas i would not agree with you by the time that there is an ip or dns address and the c line for a cccam server is out to public if the line is given to the wrong person then everything will be exposed. No firewall no password can prodect anyone.

Not correct. CCcam is from self secure because it is none public source. Mostly is fault user self who do not change server root password or let webinfo wide open. CCcam does have some prevent option like C: line is bund only with user DNS/IP that way never can no one use that line second time. And like i sayd wise idea is use not standart port for sharing "12000". Ofcourse you there is always possibility that you made exchange lines with a hacker. But you have a router with firewall in front what reduce hack attempts.
Final word. Nothing is 100% secure, but user can self do a lot to prevent that his server info is secure.
