[QUOTE=parkster;348204]No offence, but you don't know what you're talking about. Like I said, I do have HD picture using the DVI-RGB cable! My problem is getting audio.

m8 i didnt say u would not get any pic i said u wouldnt get proper hd quality pic

forko
You can get the hd picture, but via dvi-rgb cable the picture is downscaled. still good but not hd. the dvi itself is simply digital rgb signal and it doesn't have ac3 output. Use the audio from the scart (analogue) or the s/pdif (for ac3).

thank you for confirming what i was saying

Okay. sorted the audio out. Used a scart adaptor in the dreambox, with 2xRCA audio to 3mm jack into Bose.

As for the picture:
1. Are you saying that DVI-RGB is not as good as RGB-RGB (as per my TM800HD setup)? Or are you simply saying that anything-RGB is not technically HD. Obviously if it is the latter then there is nothing I can do about it as my tv only has RGB input for HD.

2. I am getting weird interference on the picture, usually at the bottom of the screen. It flickers and then goes away. Cables connected tight. Have to have it set to 60hertz, the other settings show a lot of interference! Have tried different 1080i/720p settings but no change. Any ideas?

Right. Well I'm not bothered by that. My tv only has RGB so if that isn't technically HD so be it. I've had to use RGB with SkyHD and TM800HD so as long as the picture from DVI-RGB is as good as that its fine by me. If, however, DVI-RGB is not as good as the RGB-RGB (as per my SkyHD or TM800HD setup) then that will annoy me.

My main complaint with the picture at the moment is interference. Some channels are stable, others little interference, others lots. Can't seem to find a pattern to it.

I'm told by the Sony experts that the reason for this is because my tv was made before DVI and therefore my tv doesn't have the "code" to filter out certain interference. You'd think they could bring out a patch for my tv to fix it, but I'm probably the only person in the world with a DM800HD and 5 year old plasma tv (which cost 4k in its day!!!).

I've tested it on a different tv and it works fine, so its a compatability issue between my DM800 and my tv. I tried setting it up via DVI-HDMI into an HDMI-RGB converter but that didn't "filter out" the interefernce.

Anyone want to buy me a new 42" tv?
