Is it my lnb, or worse? - 14-August-2009, 09:19

Hi,

after returning from a week of holidays I found my DM500S (pli-jade) in a state of continuous rebooting. After some steps I figured out that the box stays up if I unplug the cable comming from the LNB. If I plug the cable back in, it does not take 1 minute for my DM500 to crash and reboot. Also, after the first crash I get a couple of seconds of picture on my TV. After a couple of crashes is seems that my box even doesn't get through the boot process. But, with the cable unplugged, my DM500 works fine, apart from the obvious - no picture on my TV.

I read something about a broken part on the motherbord, which would require soldering. I also changed the power suplly, as that was one of the suggestions I found online.

I am hoping it is just my LNB. It is about 2 years old...

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
M.

Did you made a mount?
A mount not being available gets the dreambox also in a loop rebooting

Before soldering....
Always try a new flash, flash get sometimes corrupted and it can give several weird symptoms

p.s. NEVER unplug/reattach the LNB cable when the box is powered, you can kill the LNB's/tuner that way

thanks for the swift reply.

I did not have any mounts.

I also flashed it to the latest Jade3 image, but that did not change much. Moreover, the box would also reboot during the flashprocess. I consider myself lucky that I didn't fry my box doing this (allthough I had to keep it resting for a while without power to be able to contact it again with dreamup)

I am no fan of soldering, I continu hoping it is just the LNB...

Could also be the tuner which is not uncommon, if you google you will have no problem finding one, you just need someone who can solder to fit it for you.

Lucky me, I still have a spare "adios amigos" clone lying around. I'll look into that...
