Well the best is considered to be the DM8000, but at 1000 is a lot of money if your 1st starting off.
If your new and never used these boxes before, get a cheap dm500 clone. (about 60).
Then if you find its not for you, then you aint lost much!
if you like it then you can sell it and move up to higher spec receivers.

I personally think a DM800 is a nice small model. This box will cost approximately EUR 400,-. It supports HD and you can also install a 2.5" hard disk for recording television programms or storing music.

Yeah I got my dreambox 800 and the HD channel are amazing!

otherwise take in mind that the 800 warm very fast, so maybe if you put and hardrive on it - you need to put a cooler (maybe) dont try yet

very well said!

the thing is, some will find dreambox just too much work in order "just" to watch tv.

so it's best to start cheap.

The majority of people are turning to the DM800. I suppose because of the HD support.
Its not a dual tuner though, which does let it down a little!

I was in the market for 2 DM500S, but have decided to get a DM800 and a DM500

What dreambox? - 17-September-2009, 14:09

Well as said by previous peers the top of the range is the DM 8000 whilst the cheapest dreambox is the DM 500. It depends on your budget and on what you are expecting. If you are going for HD channels then go for the 800 which is much cheaper that the DM 8000. If you are constrait by financial budget then go for the 500 or 600 which are relatively cheap compared to the others (especially the 500) and which can satisfy your card sharing needs.
