More than 1 Dm in house - 13-April-2008, 18:45

Guys please can somebody comfirm that If I want to use more than 1 dreambox in my house, all I need to do is create 3 other DNS accts to enable me to do this.
for example:
C: dirtdriver1.no-ip.biz ****
C: dirtdriver2.no-ip.biz ****
C: dirtdriver3.no-ip.biz ****

If I do it this way and use totally diff passwords, would this work?

I am wanting 1 DB upstiars with 1 sat and the other in the house with diff sats on.

Hope this is clear for people to understand?

Hey
If you just are going to share "internaly" i meen your local network you dont need a DNS at all. Simply make the lines like this:
BOX 1 = Your "master dm"
BOX 2 = C: ip-to-master-dm port username password no
BOX 3 = C: ip-to-master-dm port username password no
BOX 4 = C: ip-to-master-dm port username password no
And what i meen by master dm is the box that you have the cards you share + other users lines.
Example, my dreambox has 192.168.1.5 and if someone in my house wants to connect to it they use a line like this:
C: 192.168.1.5 12000 local1 local1 no { 0:0:2 }
DNS:es is only nessesaery if you are going to share outside of your network, like to a friend some houses away etc.
The F: lines could look like:
F: local1 local1 2 0 0 { 0:0:2 } { } { } the-ip-to-the-secound-box (example. 192.168.1.2)
and the C: line on that second box will be:
C: 192.168.1.5 (the ip to the masterbox that share the cards) 12000 local1 local1 { 0:0:2 }
About the ip numbers in the F: lines is so that just your boxes inside the house can connect to them, and this will make it securer.
Dont forget that you need a twin/quad lnb or a different dish to each box since you cant just split a coaxial cable, and you still need to drag network cable though, hope they will rellease a dm with wlan soon :)

Hope i didnt make too big mess of this post, but its quite simple m8 :)

Best Regards FSS

cheers for the post, I am grateful for your time and will sort it out this week.
The most important part is about the DNS only needing one address.

will keep you posted.

many thx

Hi

You always just need one DNS just use different ports for your dreamboxes

Box one 12000
Box two 12500

And so on
