Need a script to reboot Dreambox every day? - 18-December-2008, 00:32

Hola, I'm not to familiar with Linux, but I would imagine it's possible to make a script which reboots the dreambox at a certain time every day.

I have a small TV network for our building and after a few days the voice is out of syncronization with the picture in the dreamboxes, but a reboot solves it.

I was just wondering if someone could help me out a little bit here with how to make this script?

Thanks

Thanks, I will try that

I have one box with the latest SIF image, but the rest are Gemini 4.20. Anyone knows if that image has the same functionality?

script for reboot the dreambox - 18-December-2008, 06:31

Add as file reboot_timer.sh in map /var/script (chmod 755!!)

#!/bin/sh

strHour="04"
strMin="00"

while true
do
DateSTR=`date +%H%M%S`
#echo "$DateSTR"
if [ "$DateSTR" -ge "$strHour$strMin"00 ] && [ "$DateSTR" -le "$strHour$strMin"10 ]; then
echo "its time to reboot"
#shutdown -r now
reboot
exit 0
else
#echo "do sleeping"
sleep 8
fi
done

Add as inadyn_script.sh in map /var/script/

[email protected]
/var/script/reboot_timer.sh &

test -f $DAEMON || exit 0

set -e

Reboot the dreambox and it should now auto reboot every night at 04 00

Thanks Corellon !!! That is exactly what I needed

Just to make sure I understand it correct...

Create a file in "/var/script" named: reboot_timer.sh (chmod 755) with the following code:

#!/bin/sh

strHour="04"
strMin="00"

while true
do
DateSTR=`date +%H%M%S`
#echo "$DateSTR"
if [ "$DateSTR" -ge "$strHour$strMin"00 ] && [ "$DateSTR" -le "$strHour$strMin"10 ]; then
echo "its time to reboot"
#shutdown -r now
reboot
exit 0
else
#echo "do sleeping"
sleep 8
fi
done

Create a file in "/var/script" named: inadyn_script.sh with the following code:

[email protected]
/var/script/reboot_timer.sh &

test -f $DAEMON || exit 0

set -e

That should be it, right? Should this work for both DM500 and DM800 as well?

Thanks

Hello,

I am trying to achieve the same goal.

I'm using the Cron service to start a script each day at 05:00.
The script contains the following:
#!/bin/sh
reboot

But...it doesn't work...
What should I add ?

Thanks !
