Need advice DM800HD... - 14-April-2010, 22:23

Hi,

Sorry to ask such a noob question.. but i have been searching and reading tutorials for days...

I have a DM800 HD... first time getting this kit setup for Card Sharing..

Question

Do you have to have a PC running with linux hooked up to the box to make card sharing work.

or my understanding is that the DM800 will run the linux software to make everything work...

Please help

Thanks

HI first you have to choose the immage to upload from your PC via ethernet cabel to your box! I suggest you take a look for nabilo immage for your dream hd 800, I like it very much.

When you upload the immage via web broser, restar the box, the box must be connected to a rooter and net of course.

Then form your Dreambox download the cccam or gbox etc..

Is a start isn't it.

Cheers and good luck!

it might be better for a newbie to use a null modem cable and dreamup to flash your box (flashing means putting the image in to your box ) and the image is the tv software . flashing is not hard but it can be made problematic if your pc runs on vista so i suggest using an older pc that runs on windows xp and it then will also have an rs232 port where the null modem cable connects to it (most newer pcs that run on vista will not have this port ) how you recognise the port is it looks exactly like the port at the rear of your dreambox .

once your box is flashed and setup for viewing the free tv channels you will then need to connect your box to your broadband router via an ethernet cable , and using the remote you press the yellow button twice (for nabilo images ) and you are then in the addons section where you open cams by pressing ok ,then scroll down to cccam 2.1.3 and press ok to install . you will get two prompts asking you if it is ok to install you say yes both times ,cccam 2.1.3 is now installed .

now you need to set cccam 2.1.3 as your default cam ,press blue on your remote and use the right arrow button to set cccam 2.1.3 as your default and then press ok to save . once you have reached this stage your card will work in your box or you will be ready to edit cccam to enter c lines and f lines .

Thanks for the top advice..

Ok, i flashed with Gemini 4.7 patched image via Null modem cable..(works a treat)... and loaded the CCCAm addon... Channels come fine and looking ok...

Dont want to ask a question that will kick me off this forum but do i edit the c lines and f lines if i have no Sly Card

Also, do you recomend nabilo image... or stick with gemini 4.7.. been searching around and not sure which image i should choose to work better with sly...

Until you decide on works best for you there is a plugin called BarryAllen.
You can install this on your box & you can run up to 12 different images..
This comes in very handy when your kinda new..
For example you can install nabilo image set it all up then tell BA to make a backup of it & install it, so incase you mess up the image thru testing out new features & plugins it is no big deal a fresh image is just a reboot away..
Barryallen is called a boot manager there are others such as meoboot but I have never used it..

So basically you can have Gemini, nabilo, Oozoon, etc all on the same box at the sametime..

But when using barryallen one of the BEST images to have as your main one (image in flash) is Oozoon cause the main image is the one the drivers are pulled from..

Yes it will require some reading & trial & error but you will get the most out of your box with such tools..

Just trying to explain what you might find useful while testing this box..

.

if you have only free channels(free to air )then editing cccam will have no effect. you only edit cccam to add an f line (if your sharing your card with others ) f being for friends. or you add a c line (c meanining client, and you being the client ) a c line is a line of info given to you that allows you to share a card with someone (a friend or family member that has a share set up) or a pay server (we cant talk about pay servers on this forum its against forum rules ) but just to say its not free ,its called sharing for a reason, you share your card with some one and they share their card with you .i hope this helps you mate .
