Viaccess Card Problem? - 27-October-2009, 15:50

Hi
Just took delivery of an RTVi card bought from SatEuropa.

Put it in DM7020 card reader slot (white sly in other slot) with box running CCcam 2.1.2 and NewCS.

Switched to RTV channel and nothing. Left card for a while and still nothing. Checked card on CCcam Server and card not showing.

Phoned SatEuropa and they told me first that card will not work in DreamBox card reader but only in an official viaccess slot or with a CAM. They then told me that the RTVi card needs to be registered with the operator by letter or FAX as it will only work for 7 days otherwise.

I have seen and shared RTVi cards from other Dreams and I have never heard of rigistering cards with provider once bought from distributor.

Am I being shafted?

It shoud work shouldn't it?

Any suggestions gratefully received.

It's not abnormal for a dealer to have to activate cards and many have a preview period but this is normally something the dealer should do and the onus should not be with you

I'm surprised the card is not reading in your Dreambox as most viaccess cards can be read with cccam

Does anyone know what viaccess standard an RTVi card is?

I see some posts saying that extra lines need to go in the cccam.cfg for viaccess 3 cards...

I have RTVi Card working ok in CCcam I am using smargo card reader with this settings:

Code:
SERIAL READER : /dev/ttyUSB0 smartreader+
SMARTCARD CLOCK FREQUENCY : /dev/ttyUSB0 5600000
..but for updating the Card You need NewCS and MGCamd..because CCcam can't handle the EMM's. And it's not a registration..You need to activate the Card..You can do it by phone...

OK, now we are getting somewhere.

Can you tell me who to phone to activate the card?

I was already on the track of those lines for CCcam, i was going to use:

#SERIAL READER (lower): /dev/sci0
SMARTCARD CLOCK FREQUENCY: /dev/sci0 5600000
TRY ALL CHIDS : /dev/sci0
B: /dev/sci0 00
AU = yes

I already use NewCS for my sly card do I need any special settings for the RTVi card?

Finally, what is the relationship of MGCamd to NewCS and CCcam I have not used this before?

Thanks again....
