Which Box To Buy - 20-April-2009, 13:35

Hi Guys,
I'm new to all this but spent a whole week doing home work but still unclear about which box to buy, currently 500s(clone) available in market is not original just wondering if there is any place where I can buy the original or even the clone box will work fine for card sharing. Any help and guidance will be much appreciated.
thanks in advance for reading my post and replying.

Welome to the ECS aahha so with all this homework you have done did you not think it a good idea to tell us how much money you have to spend ?
Do you require a HDD for pvr / recording functions?
Do you require HD pictures?
Do you have a card you wish to share?
Do you have a fixed dish or rotor?

The answers will only be as good as the question >best bet imho get your self a DM8000 with a 500gb HDD

with all linux boxes comes down to support new DM500 is the plus!...nothing wrong with the clones DM500 for the price!...with the new boxes AZ, AB, QBox, CubeRevo etc...are in beta...meaning you will need good STB software know how and time to try new software patchs/fixes and updates...so perhaps go for a clone to get some hands on experience with good support, before jumping in the deep end...best luck

Thankyou all for your replies and support, my original budget was around 100 but I don't really know if I have to spend more money than I'll haveto wait 3more weeks to save some money before spending.
Skyman114 you are right and i'm sorry i forgot to add all that information so here we are and I hope I'll get more specific direction from you guys.
(HD PICTURE) i don;t mind as I don't have plasma with 1080p as of yet
(CARD TO SHARE) no i'm afraid i don't have any card to share except s**y basic card.
(DISH) i have 1metre dish with coverage of 28.2,19.2 and 13.0
I hope to hear from you all again.

I think you are only able to buy a clone box for 100 pounds or less. If you want an original box you have to spend a little more and I think you have to go to an authorized dealer to be sure to get an original dream-multimedia box.

For a little bit more you can get a DM600 or you could try the eagle linux. I have just set one up this weekend and it work just fine.

Try to find DM500 from Ebay for example, 100 should be enough for that. Clone will do the job as well. Best!
