Wireless Client Bridg for DM 500 - 13-September-2009, 12:33

I'm looking for the cheapest solution to hook my dreambox 500 to a wireless network..

what i found so far was te Belkin 802.11g Wireless G Gaming Adapter that's about €65,-
and two access points from tp-link that are about €50,-

i'm not even sure if the two access points thing is going to work on a dreambox..

There must be a cheaper solution or some cheap chinese thingy
that can help me out

Someone??

Thanxx for the reactions

Any DD-wrt router will work as a wireless bridge.

Have a look here for compatible hardware
DD-WRT :: Supported Hardware

You can probably pick up something that can have dd wrt installed for about 20 off ebay.

The default IP for any ddwrt device is 192.168.1.1.

Plug it into your pc, set your pc's ip to be 192.168.1.2 with a subnet of 255.255.255.0 (don't need default gateway or dns).

Enter 192.168.1.1 in a web browser.
Enter your username and pass
Set the fonera in Wireless client bridge mode.
Enter your security key (wep or wpa) and save.
Now connect it to your dreambox.

Bridge device ip dosent need to be on same subnet as your home network.
Best practice is to put bridge device on separate private subnet/ip like 10.0.0.1 and you can put netmask 255.255.255.252 so only ip 10.0.0.2 can be added to subnet for your administration of bridge device.
Ip on network inetrface (dm500) you set ofcourse as if it is connected with cabel on router.
