lnb position

Hi all i am in the uk and wondering if the position of the lnb in its holder matter too much does it need angling or does it have to sit perfectly straight.

reason i ask is because i have installed a dm500-s with motor and pole is 100% straight dish but i cannot seem to pick up thor through a 1m dish,

bearing in mind the person could pick up thor no probs on his technomate.

i went upto the dish and noticed a nut and bolt missing from one side of the lnb holder so i replaced but wondered if the lnb had moved i.e rotated its currently sitting straight.

any help much appreciated.

On a motorised systme the LNB should never be angles as its angle varies due the motors movment, So LNB should be bang on straight when you set it @ 1W.

For your signal - Remmember due north isn't 1W, also its a high inclination is largest at 1W so its an inclination problem you have, just set it as a fixed dish initally get 1W Signal perfect then worry about the motor after, should have no probs with a 1M Dish - Set to Canal + Sports Extra as its a strong TP here in the UK

can anyone confirm which transponder canal + sports extrais on these days?

i have been trying all day today to get thor but can not find it at all dish is perfectly straight and lnb is now too i did get a lock on one frequency but only found 19channels.

If you only scanned 19 channels then you were on wrong sat that used the same transponder details as one that thor uses.Check out the channels via lyngsat you scanned to see what sat they are transmitted on.You can also see thors transponders details there to help you locate them.

Also try locking the dish to Thor with the Technomate and use the loop though on the Technomate to feed the Dreambox and just scan that way.This will help you see if the Dreamboxes tuner is as sensitive as the Technomates.

If this is the case this would explain why one receiver can lock on to Thor but the other can't
