Original tuner in clone DM800 - 16-October-2011, 22:25

I have a clone DM800 with dvb-c tuner, but this week, it stopped receiving channels. (Tune failed). When I search for channels, it doesn't find any valid channels or transponders. However, it still indicates the tuner is present.

I'd like to replace the clone tuner for a Dream Multimedia tuner. Is this possible, or will this setup not work? Can there be any other reason for the tuner to stop finding channels? My DM500c is still working perfectly.

You should try a tuner rev M (cable), i think... is cheaper and is good almost like original.

According to the seller (hdtvdreambox.com) it is a Rev-m tuner, but if I compare it to the images on the net it doesn't look like an Alps L3 or rev M tuner.
Engraved in the shielding is 'NuTune', while the sticker says CU1216LS/AGIGH and some numbers.

I can only find the L3 and Rev M tuners for DVB-S2, not for DVB-C in webshops. Do DVB-C Rev M and L3 tuners even exist?

Additionally, i don't want to risk another clone tuner if I can buy an original tuner for almost the same price, however, i'd like to know what the odds are that it works.
(I can buy an original tuner at a local store without shipping charges)

Thanks

To follow up:
I bought an original tuner and it looks identical to the clone tuner except for the RF input connector, which is an F-connector on the clone and a normal TV aerial plug on the original. Both the original and clone tuner have NuTune tuners.
The original tuner works fine in my clone dreambox.
