virgin meadia super hub port forwarding - 10-July-2012, 14:39

anyone know how to set up port forwarding on these routers i have set up a dm500s on a 1mtr motorised dish for my son inlaw got all the sats sorted out put him a cline in my cfg file and set his up the same but i cant figure out the ports on his router he has a dyndns account & host name but not clearing any thing but fta should he still be clearing channels without the ports set ???

You dont need to open ports as client, only as server.

i got him up and running now thanks set his router ports to recive 12000 to 16001
and port 80
all is working fine just need to set up a cline for him to see if i can see his box as a server i can see him in cccaminfo as a client but no server

So now he's the server and you are the client?

As i said, if you have the local and you are giving him a c line, he does not need to open the port. More ports open = more chance of attack.

hes going to be a server aswell once its set up right just testing at the moment to make sure all is working as it should be is it better to set the ports individual like say port 12000& port 16001instead of 12000to16001

in these hubs when setting the ports it asked for divice ip is this ip the dreambox or the hub ip ?

all sorted now it was a simple mistake in hi cfg file up and running now hes chuffed to bits thanks all
