Question Need help DM800 Timeshift not possible - 01-October-2008, 00:09

Hi

I have a DM800 with Gemini2 3.80

No harddrive but I have automounted my NAS and recording and playback works fine. But if I press the Yellow button to pause a program it says "Timeshift not possible"

Do I need to configure somthing to make it work or whats wrong ?

Thanks for any hints

Time shift only works with local drives bigger than 1Gb. What I did is connected a 4G USB flash and mounted it to /hdd. Then you need to create /hdd/movie directory and there you go.

When you automount your NAS drive as /hdd when your network interface comes up, you can record & timeshift.

/etc/network/interfaces
iface eth0 inet static
address 192.168.0.10
netmask 255.254.254.0
gateway 192.168.0.1
up mount -t nfs -o nolock 192.168.0.11:/home/recordings /hdd

Hi - I found your thread looking for a way to make timeshift work (surprise... ;) ) and according to the previous posts, it should work with my setup (DM800/GP2v3.8)... yet it doesn't... are there any additional conditions?

I've got a USB disk with >100GB free disk space mounted on /media/usb and symlinked to /hdd , the /hdd/movie folder exists and recording/playback works fine...

In case someone's got the same problem:

The hdd was mounted on /media/usb . Mounting on /media/hdd (and relinking /hdd ) did the trick. (seems as if recording checks /hdd, while timeshift checks /media/hdd for some reason)

Could someone please explain how this is done, I have Nabilosat image v12 on Dm800.

I have an external USB HDD mounted on /media/hdd, recording works correctly but I cannot use the timeshift function.

How do I link linux mounts.

Thanks

Thanks mate

I now have the timeshift working properly,

The problem is that I have to unmount and remount the drive after each reboot

the usb drive keeps getting automounted as
/media/usb at startup

i have altered my fstab and still no joy.

Copy here:

--------------------------------------------------------------------

rootfs / auto defaults 1 1
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
devpts /dev/pts devpts mode=0620,gid=5 0 0
usbdevfs /proc/bus/usb usbfs defaults 0 0
/dev/mtdblock/2 /boot jffs2 ro 0 0
tmpfs /var tmpfs defaults 0 0
tmpfs /tmp tmpfs defaults 0 0
/dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/part1 /media/hdd auto defaults 0 0

--------------------------------------------------------------------

/dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/part1 - is the correct device as it is working after its manually unmounted & remounted to the correct location

Can anyone tell me how I could disable the automount for my usb drive at startup

or

add a script such as this automatically at each startup:

umount /media/usb

mount /dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/part1 /media/hdd

Or am I missing something altogether

Thanks
