Setting up Image - 28-October-2010, 18:19

Hi,

I have tried to put the Openpli image on my dreambox but it has not worked fully and become unstable (does not boot fully).

The good news is that I can still connect to it via FileZilla.

So the question I have is can I transfer the .img file directly into the dreambox file system and how do I recover please?

I am a bit scared of making it worse.

Thanks very much.

Dave

Flashing with dreamup and serial cable?

Please select a FTA channel when not watching TV this saves on bandwidth and lets other peers enjoy a more reliable share
+ 5000 channels to watch, and still nothin' on TV...

use null cable and dreamup, much safer. but you may do this

1. ftp your .img to /tmp
2. telnet to your box
3. on prompt, enter cd /tmp
4. from /tmp folder, check if your file is indeed there (ls)
5. once sure, do this:
eraseall /dev/mtd/3 && cp filename.img /dev/mtd/3 && reboot

be warned, ANY MISTAKE will render your box dead. so yes, go with the dreamup and null cable.
