USB stick on DM7000 - 31-October-2009, 20:57

A friend gave me this DM7000. I flashed it with Gemini 4.60.
I stuck an 8GB stick into the USB port and dmesg reports this:

usb 1-1: new full speed USB device using address 5
scsi3 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices
Vendor: SanDisk Model: Cruzer Rev: 7.01
Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02
Attached scsi removable disk sda at scsi3, channel 0, id 0, lun 0
Attached scsi generic sg0 at scsi3, channel 0, id 0, lun 0, type 0
USB Mass Storage device found at 5
SCSI device sda: 15701759 512-byte hdwr sectors (8039 MB)
sda: Write Protect is off
sda: Mode Sense: 00 00 00 00
sda: asking for cache data failed
sda: assuming drive cache: write through
The stick is FAT32 and can be seen on my Debian desktop. However, the DM7000 fails to mount it. Here's the error in the kernel log:
FAT: invalid media value (0x06)
VFS: Can't find a valid FAT filesystem on dev sda.
I was able to format it as ext3, and I can mount it. But this may ruin the stick, and I wouldn't want it as a permanent solution.

Can I make the DM7000 see FAT32 sticks?
