I had the same and many other problems with Ubuntu.
Changed to Fedora, and I had never ever any problem anymore.

You've got a problem with the powersave function of ubuntu.
If the card is not beeing used for a certain amount of time, ubuntu tries to save power by disabling the port temporary. Only problem is, CCcam does not recognise the cardreader after that.

You can disable that by doing the following:

Code:
sudo su
echo on > /sys/bus/usb/devices/5-8.4.1/power/level
Check this site here, for a bit more explanation.

Hi!

Thanks for that... BUT it gives me "permission denied" error... only "usb1" and "usb2" are OK

hi all..

since i' pretty tight to ubuntu (7.10 in my case - LinuxMCE), could there be some other solution?

My idea: if there could be some script, that would every... hour.. test, if the card is still recognized, if not, it would restart cccam (what helps in my case). Sure, not more then ... 10 times or so, in case, there is something else wrong...?

What do you think?

If OK, and since i'm a total linux noob, where to turn then?

Got the same problem here. Since I overclocked the card in my Smargo it would loose it from time to time. Now I just disabled the overclocking and it works smooth. Just let the Smargo detect the mhz itself. Perhaps that works for you.
